Potty Training

So I knew this day would eventually come since I am a mom and Lilly has a diaper, but I was hoping that she would just teach herself. But I have been putting it off for awhile now and I want to get her potty trained before the new baby comes in a few months and I'm sick of changing her diaper. So all this week I will be staying home and teaching her to use the potty, we'll see how it goes. Lilly has quite the temper so we'll see how she handles me telling her to use the potty. Should be fun, Wish me luck!!

NYC at Christmas

A lot has happened in the past month since I last posted. This year we decided to go to NYC to see my brother before he graduates in May. I wanted to go to his graduation but I will either be having a baby or have a brand new baby when he graduates so we decided to go now. We saw lots of neat things.

Every morning I watch the Today show and we were able to go to the NBC studios where they film it. I was excited!

We were able to go see the Rockettes at Radio city music Hall. This is the most beautiful Chandelier I have ever seen in the lobby of Radio City music hall.

In front of the Statue of Liberty, my sister missed it a little bit when she was taking the picture but its there.

Manhattan temple, so neat, we went inside and it was so peaceful compared to the noisy city just outside!

While we were there I got some tickets to see the daytime Cooking show called "the Chew." Nate, me, Aleisha and my mom went and saw it. It was neat to see how a live tv show works. You would never guess that there are like 30 people behind the cameras working everything and the set is not that big. On the show there are five hosts and they are Carla hall (she was on Top chef, nate and I watched her), Michael Symon (a chef in New york), Mario Bartoli (a famous chef), Daphne Oz(Daughter of the famous Dr. Oz and she is a self help author), and Clinton Kelly (he is also on TLC's what not to wear). We had a great time and got some canolis for being in the audience.

We went to the famous toy store FAO Schwartz. My niece and nephew and my sister Brooke played on the big piano.

Lilly fell asleep when we were there. I was just surprised she wasn't grabbing all the toys.

So the day after we got back from New York we got an ultrasound and we found out that we are having a GIRL!! I was very very surprised. I thought for sure we were having a boy. If you would of asked me I would have said I was 98% sure it was a boy. So I haven't done any belly shots of me yet b/c I didn't think boys would care how their mom looked pregnant with them. But when we found out it was a girl I was like OK I'll do a belly shot for my future daughter because they seem to care about that stuff. So this is me at 20 wks. I'm about the same size I was with Lilly. Now we have to think of girls names which we were not thinking of. I'm excited for Lilly to have a little sister and for another girl. Girls are so much fun to dress!

I really wanted to make a wreath for this fall (I know its almost over) but I couldn't justify spending 20 dollars on flowers. I actually bought the wooden wreath part at the dollar store before I knew it would cost so much for the flowers. So yesterday I went to Walmart and saw that all their fall stuff was on sale, so I got the flowers that I wanted expecting to pay about half off, but the checkout lady gave them to me for 1.25 for all the flowers. I was so excited!! So I made this wreath for a total of 2.25!! The ribbon I already had. So I will have my beautiful wreath for next fall!! Yeah!!

Halloween other stuff

SO this isn't a very good picture b/c I couldn't get Lilly to hold still but her shirt says "I"M going to be a big sister." We are very excited and we are due may14! So far with this pregnancy I have felt worse with this pregnancy than with Lilly. Pretty much sick everyday all day. I'm not throwing up but I just didn't feel good. I'm starting to feel better. I defiantly feel that this pregnancy is different than Lilly's. Before we found out I was pregnant I was feeling sick all day for two days straight and finally I decided to take a pregnancy because I just thought something was not the same. Even though we wanted to get pregnant for awhile now I don't know I didn't expect it yet but we are excited!

So this year I decided to make Lilly's costume (lady bug) b/c I didn't want to spend a lot of money but by the time I bought everything and her shoes it was almost the same. Oh well, at least its cute

Anniversary

This weekend we went to Estes Park to celebrate our anniversary. As I said in my last blog they say the Stanley is haunted. So when we arrived here is the conversation I had with the Receptionist

Receptionist: We having you staying in a Haunted room
me: Excuse me
Receptionist: A haunted room
me: I really would rather not stay in a Haunted room
Receptionist: Well let me see what else we have ( Looking Looking, for a long time, it was a busy weekend)
me: ok well why is it haunted
Receptionist: They did a show in there called Ghost Hunters and something happened
me: is it really Haunted?
Receptionist: Well its not one of our scariest rooms
me: fine we'll stay in it.

I must say that it was fine and at no point did I feel like a ghost was in my room. That stuff creeps me out. But we had a good time.

Wow, time flies, I can't believe its been 5 years. I am so blessed to have found my best friend and to be married to him for eternity. I remember getting ready for my wedding and being so nervous and excited and not really knowing what to expect. I really wish I could have lived that day again b/c I think it was all overwhelming and I didn't get to take in the day like I wish I would have. Nathan and I didn't really have much of a honeymoon so we've decided to do fun things for our anniversaries to make up for it. Last year we went to San Francisco. This year we are staying the weekend in the infamous Stanley Hotel in estes park where the movie the shining was filmed. Some people say its haunted but I guess we'll see. I'm very grateful for the parents that raised such a good husband and father. I love you Nate, Happy Anniversary!!

Lilly turned two on Monday!! She is getting so big I can hardly believe it. So for Lilly's bday we had a family dinner at my parents house on Sunday than on Monday her and I went to see Lion King (she loves movies), then that night we went to Mcdonalds b/c she loves chicken nuggets. She gots lots of presents from both grandparents and us. Here are some facts about Lilly:

1. She has a very strong personality if I do something she doesn't like she'll sit there and yell at me for awhile
2. She talks a lot but you can't understand her
3. She loves Barbies and Barbie movies
4. She dances all the time
5. She doesn't like water (will not get in a swimming pool unless we force her)
6. Loves playgrouds
7. Loves fruit, would eat it all day
8. Is learning about the potty
9. Loves taking naps and going to sleep as long as she has her binkie (I need to get rid of it)
10. Waves hi to everyone, especially in Walmart

Nate's Reunion

The smith family had a great family reunion this year in Cody, WY. Nathan and I went up on Sunday to Billings than drove down the next day to Cody. All of Nate's Siblings were there except his younger sister. It was so much fun to see everyone, and to see Nate's sis Natalie who lives in Utah and we don't get to see that often. Shes expecting her Sixth child in September and she also was in charge of our reunion. She did a wonderful JOb!! So we saw a rodeo, the dam, and old town, went fishing and swimming and lots of fun with the family. I'm not very good at remembering to take pictures, so usually I only get about half the things I would like to have. Oh well

Today is a sad day. My dear friend Laura is moving to Idaho Falls, ID. I have loved getting to know her and being her friend. She taught me a lot of things including being a great mom!! She has four kids, so she knows it all ;)!! We were in the primary presidency together and thats how we got to know one another. With her family she moved here two years ago for her husbands job. Well this job is amazing b/c now he can work from wherever. Laura is from Idaho falls and her parents live there. Even though I am very sad to see her go I understand needing to be close to family. When I was growing up I decided I wanted to be close to family so my kids would know their grandparents and cousins (hopefully when my brother moves here). So I understand but i know it'll be hard not to go out with her to get pedi's and go out to dinner. Every once in awhile you get that friend that just gets you and she got me!! Nathan and I have talked about going to visit Rexburg b/c I have another very dear friend (who was my Roommate) who I would love to see as well. So I will see her again, hopefully many times. I just wanted to tell Laura that I will miss her very Much!! But we are going to go on a cruise next year right ;)!! I love you Laura!

Cheyenne Frontier Days

Nathan and I started a tradition last year, where we go to Cheyenne Frontier days and stay the night. We go see the rodeo then the concert that night. We had a great time. The concert we saw was Jason Aldean, he was great

This little baby is probably about 2 months old. He was so stinkin cute. His parents brought him to the concert, and for the most part did a great job. They put the gun earmuffs on him so it wouldn't be to loud. He fell asleep pretty quickly.

So even though for the most part I don't miss Rexburg there are still some things that I do miss. I was so excited when I saw a Snoasis there. I just had to get my Tigers blood snocone. It was great!

4th of July and fun stuff

So I know this long overdue and I don't have many pictures, sorry. BUt for the Fourth we went to Steamboat Springs with Nate's parents and two nieces. It was a lot of fun and we got to relax and enjoy the beautiful mountains. Before we went up to Steamboat we went to the Denver Zoo and saw all kinds of fun Animals. Lilly loved having two cousins to play with.

The week after we went to Elitches with my family. A good friend of our family and a Orthodontist that my dad uses was throwing a party at Elitches so we got in free and got free dinner. It started raining after we started riding the rides so we only went on two rides. Bummer. Oh well it was fun to just be there and get free food.

We are so grateful for Father's day and for our father's. Lilly loves her daddy. When she hears the garage door go up she knows that daddy is home and she goes & gets her shoes and waits by the door for her dad. I'm so grateful that Nate is such a great dad and Husband. We love you!

I also ran two 10k's about 2 weeks apart. Both had its different challenges but it was a fun experience. Nate and lilly have come to all my races (nate is worried I'll pass out or something) but I'm so glad they come. It makes it that much better when I cross the finish line.

Before my last race

I ran the Bolder/Boulder on memorial day. Its a big race here in Colorado. I ran with about 55,000 people. It was pretty crazy. I kind of like the smaller size races I've decided. I ran with my dad and some ladies from work. The lady on the far right is Joanne and she runs about 3 or 4 marathons a year. I get my advice from her. Susan is next to my dad and shes run a couple races with my dad and I before. Someday I'll run a half marathon, (when I have more time to run)

Sorry I haven't been updating my blog in awhile. But there really hasn't been anything to exciting going on. My parents have a pony that my dad has being trying to get lilly on for awhile. So One day that went out and put her on. She Loved it!! My sister brooke rode with her.

On other news tomorrow I am running a 10k with my dad called the Bolder/Boulder. Its a pretty popular race. About 55,000 people will be running in it, so that should be fun. Then we will be planting our garden tomorrow afternoon. I'm excited to get fresh veggies again this year.

Easter

This year for Easter I did some real reflecting on the Savior and I am very grateful for Easter. A month before Easter Nathan told me that we could get candy but no real big presents. Now I'm someone who really likes presents, I just do. So we agreed to just get Lilly a new dress and some candy. I'm very grateful for Nathan b/c it made me realize how sometimes we think to much about the gifts and not so much about what Easter is really about. Its not about a bunny or eggs, its about Christ.

It was my turn in primary to give sharing time on Sunday. I really pondered on what I should do b/c I really wanted the kids to think about what the Savior did for us all. I ended up having the kids look up the crucifiction and talk about it and the resurrection. I am so grateful for the Sacrifice he made so we could be with our Loved ones again someday. I am also very grateful for the opportunity that I had in do sharing time for primary and the increase in my testimony.

We also had some fun. We went to a easter egg hunt at my mom's friends house. Lilly thought it was so much fun getting these easter eggs and then finding prizes inside. Then lilly got a new Sunday dress for church. We had a great easter dinner with my family. It was a great day to think about the Savior.

Curly Hair Bows

My friend Laura had me come over the other day and we made these cute Hair bows. I just had to share how to make them b/c they are really easy but also very fun to make.
1. Preheat oven to 350
2. Find ribbon that you like can be any kind, I would use the smaller kind its easier to twist.
3. Get a whole bunch of craft sticks, you can get them anywhere that sells crafts. Get the smaller wooden ones. The bigger they are, the harder it is to get the curl to stay.
4. Get wood close pins
5. Take the ribbon and wrap it around the wood stick, end to end and attach it with clothes pins and of course cut the ribbon.
6. You can make as many as you want. I would do 6 wood sticks for one bow. Put on cookie sheet and bake for 30 mins
7. Take out of Oven and take the ribbon off (otherwise its hard to get off)
8. Let cool
9. You can cut them in half and glue them together or sew them together. You can tie them on a hair elastic.

This is just for demonstration purposes (I couldn't find any craft sticks, but a wooden spoon maybe to big) This one is more of a tighter twist

This past week we went out east to have our annual Petersen reunion during my Brother's spring break from school. We flew to Boston spent a day there. Then drove down to NYC then drove to Philadelphia. Spent the day in philadelphia then drove to York, PA. From York we went to Gettysburg. The next day we went to Hershey, PA then back to NYC where we stayed for a day then flew out of JFK airport. We saw alot in just one week but it was fun being with family and seeing new things. Thanks to Grant and Aleisha for showing us everything and for letting us stay with you!!

So nothing new is really going on in our lives. We had a great Valentine's day. We went out to eat at a restaurant named Ted Turner's Buffalo grill. I didn't get any Buffalo but Nate did. He said it was good. Nate got me some pink roses and Cupcakes, b/c I love cake. BUt that was about it.

We are going to be going on a trip to Boston, New york and Pennsylvania soon so I thought I would do a countdown of that b/c we are really excited to go. I think I'm a little nervous for the airplane ride with my almost 18 month old. At least my family will be with us so they can help entertain her.

Nursery Time For Lilly

Last Sunday Lilly started going to nursery. Since my friend is over Nursery she got to go in a month early. There is only one other little girl so Lilly gets to go to Nursery now! WOHOOO!!!! I was so excited! Maybe I'm a bad mom but I needed the time to do my calling in primary and Nate hasn't gone to Elders quorum in a while b/c lilly is well very disruptive. For those of you haven't met lilly shes a bit of a pill and likes to be mischevious. My mom says that I was not like Lilly at all and that I have my hands full. But I still love her very much. She had a great time in nursery and didn't cry at all until Daddy came in to check on her. But she got over it quickly. Yeah for Nursery!!

Christmas and new stuff

We had a great christmas this year. My brother and his family came from New York to be with us for christmas. We started out going to a light show in town on Monday. Then Wednesday we went swimming at our fav. Swimming pool. On crhistmas eve we had some friends from our ward come and we put on the story of Jesus' birth for everyone. Nate and I were wiseman. Lilly and her cousin Garrett were sheep. Brooke was mary, Crystal was joseph. Grant was a donkey and Shepard, Aleisha a wiseman and Alaina the angel. Even though it was kind of crazy it was fun. Then nate and our friend bro. Dalley played the guitars and we sang christmas songs.

This is a ragged quilt that I had been working on for nate's parent's for christmas. It has all the grandkids handprints and some blank ones for new grandkids. I had to wait to post pics of it til after they got it. But I had fun putting it together. They have 21 grandkids and 1 on the way. Its made out of flannel. When I was thinking about what I wanted to make it out of I wanted it to be comfortable, something that you would want to cuddle up in. So I thought of flannel pjs and I went with that.

This is my salon that we had been building in our basement for the past year. Nate and I worked on it together. I can now say I have Drywalled and plastered and painted, and laid flooring. It was fun to do together and to have it done. I really enjoy having it in my home where I can stay with lilly but still make some extra money. The salon name is Colette's Salon de Cheveux. I went with a french theme and high fashion. I have coutour pictures on the walls. The phrase "Salon de Cheveux" is french for Hair salon. So I just added my name, so in french it says " Colette's hair salon." My name is also french that's kind of how I got the idea. I hope that makes sense.

Thanksgiving

So this year for thanksgiving we went to Billings, MT where Nate's family is. I'm kind of upset at myself b/c I didn't take any pictures. But we had lots of fun. Nate has 4 siblings that live in MT. Only one that lives in Utah. We were able to visit all 4 families and spend some time with them individually which was really nice and Lilly had so much fun with all her cousins. She loves little kids and trys to hug them everytime she sees a little kid like her. Nates nephew Kade who is just one month older than Lilly was scared of her the first time he met her but lilly went right up to him and hugged him than he started crying. Every night lilly went to bed sweating from playing so much. We appreciate all the families and nate's parents for having us!! Nate got up at 4am in the morning on Black friday to get a pistol for 200 when it is usually 400. There were only 50 of them. So he was pretty excited to get it and I'm excited b/c now I don't have to hear him say how much he wants another gun, and that he didn't have to pay 400! But we had a great time!

These lovely deer were in our flower bed in my front yard. The one scared me a little bit b/c I was downstairs exercising and I came up and there it was in the view of my front window. But they were there for quite a while. I took the pictures from our front room. We always see them at the neighbors and they ate some of my pumpkins but this was the first time they were so close.

For Halloween I was a 50's girl, nate was a skeleton and Lilly was cinderella. We went to our ward party on Friday and I won "One of a kind" chili in the chili competition. I was just glad I won something. It's getting really hard to take pictures of lilly b/c she just wants to come grab the camera. This is her with pigtails for the first time. and her cute pumpkin outfit.

This is my new Love!! I was so excited when I got this piano. The delivery man asked if I was taking lessons and I said nope, I had lessons for 12 years. So to have a piano for myself is wonderful. I sat down and lilly and I started playing.

Its been four years since nate and I were Married!! Crazy how time flies! The first picture is one when nate and I were dating. It was the first time that he met my family in Yellowstone. The second is our wedding on Oct 20, 2006. Happy Anniversary Nate, I Love you!!

All the people gathered for the Blue Angels Show in the park and Ghirdelli square and old factory.

This is jimmy Hendrix's old house on the top and the houses below are from the show "Full House". The house on the end (below) just sold for 5 million dollars. The prices in San Fran are pretty expensive. On one of the houses theres a sign in the window that says that it is not the full house, house and they do not do tours.

We took a tour of Chinatown. Our tour guide was from chinatown so she knew all the ends and outs of it. This is a buddhist temple that we went in. There are buddhist nuns that live there.

We went to a market where they buy there food and you can get animals that are not dead yet. Like fish and a whole chicken is 5 dollars. You take a live chicken home with you in a plastic bag.

This is a fortune cookie factory, but there are only 2 people making them.

This place is the daycare center that was in the movie "the pursuit of Happiness" in chinatown. It of course looks different on the outside.

We were able to Walk across Golden Gate Bridge. While we were there it was sunny everyday.

While we were there it was Fleet Week. Some navy crews came into port and the Blue Angels performed air shows. I didn't even know who the Blue angels were but it was really fun to see the performances. Nathan of course knew who they were and was very excited. Also the navy were letting people come aboard their ships and take tours but we chose not to b/c we would had to wait in line for two hours.

This is Fisherman's wharf and pier 39 where the sea Lions come to veg. It was fun seeing them in their natural habitat and not the zoo. We had fish and chips while we were there.

This is City hall. The city gives tax breaks to those companys who display art outside their buildings, so theres a lot.

So I didn't know that San Francisco is so Fashion Friendly!! I was pretty excited to go shopping while we were there, especially in H&M b/c I'd never gone shopping there before. It was fun to see all the stores that you wouldn't normally see like Louis Vutton and Prada!

Lilly was lucky to stay with my parents for the few days!! Thanks mom and dad. Nate and I haven't been on a vacation like this in awhile.

My sweet lilly just turned one on Sunday. I can hardly believe how big she has gotten and how much we love her and grateful shes apart of our family. She weighs 21lbs and is 27.5 inches long. She was 6.12 when she was born.

Nate's Building

So over the past year Nate's company assigned nate to work in Boulder (which is about 1.5 hours away from our home). He's been a project engineer in Helping build a new Cafeteria (or galley as us BYUI students would call it) for the Campus of CU- boulder. There are 12 different venues with food from Persia to Italian. I'm so proud at how hard he worked and even though he had to drive 3 hours a day and wake up every morning at 4:30am, he still did it and did a great job. Heres some pictures of how beautiful the building turned out. GOOD JOB NATE!!

Aren't you so glad to see our tax dollars used so abundantly!! I could think of a few things that could have used the millions of dollars! Oh well, thats politics

Happy 4th Of July!! This year we went camping in Gunnison, CO. Then we traveled to Ouray, Co and Crested Butte CO. In OUray we went to the Hot Springs pool and Lilly swam for the first time. Then we went to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison which was beautiful. Then the next day we went on a hike in Crested Butte then saw fire works in Gunnison. We had lots of fun and saw lots of things we hadn't seen before.

So two Weeks ago Nate's Parents came with two of nathan's Nieces and one of Nathan's nephews. The first day we went to Elitches, which is basically a six flags. We rode lots of rides and the kids rode their in first Ferris wheel. That day was exhausting but very fun. The next day we went to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, then to a restaurant called the white fence farm. Which has a petting zoo and their fried chicken is famous and has been on the cooking channel. Then we showed the kids the Denver Temple it was a great trip and We are so glad they came to visit! I didn't take as many picture as I would have liked, it was rainy for most of their trip here. We love having visitors so all are welcome to come on By!!

Yesterday I ran in my first 10k. Which is 6.22 miles. It turned out really well. I'm glad the anticipation is over. Now I know what to expect the next time. 5k Run

I ran a 5k run this saturday!! I've been training for it for awhile now. We ran it in 34 mins, which usually it takes me about 40 mins, so that was good. I ran with my dad, a lady that works with my dad (Susan) and my friend since 2nd grade Lauren Smith. Theres a guy walking through our picture that I dont know. My next thing I am going to do is a 10k. Wish me luck!

So those of you that know me really well know that I love CLothes and I love to shop. If there is ever a holiday or bday I always plan to buy clothes or something of that nature. But since I've been married I haven't been able to for obvious reasons, to go and buy a new outfit when ever I want.

When I was growing up my mom used to haul us kids down to a place called DAV (like a goodwill) and I loved it. We would buy all sorts of stuff for like a dollar. When we moved out to Elizabeth there wasn't anything close enough to go to. So just recently they put a goodwill in town and I've gotten such good stuff. Like they say another man's junk is ones treasure, or something like that. Heres some things I bought.

I love Buying skirts and dresses, probably my favorite thing to get b/c I love to dress up. I got these 2 dresses and 3 skirts for under 25.

Heres some movies I got. I know that VHS is going out but I love all these old movies and I still have a VHS player. I got these movies for 99 cents or less each.

We have been very busy this past month, with our church callings, trying to finish my salon and with everything else. Here are a few pictures of what we have been doing.

Here is Lilly trying not to eat her cereal! Its getting better, she has finally started sleeping in her crib and sleeping through the night. Thank Goodness!! Colette was needing her sleep!!

Lilly hasn't started crawling yet but we expect anyday she will be. She rolls and scoots all over the floor.

Here is some of my tulips starting to grow in our planters in our front yard. I'm so excited to start planting beautiful flowers this summer.

This plowed piece in our backyard is where our garden will be this summer. I'm excited to get fresh veggies but I'm a little worried about finding gardener snakes in my garden.

Here is some pictures of my salon. We have finished the drywall and we are starting to paint. Once it is all done I will post pictures. I'm excited to have my business in my home. The room is big enough that I will be able to put a play area in part of it for Lilly to play in.

So lilly is really small as you can see. But she does have chubby legs so I think she is just a small little girl. She still gained 2 lbs. We took her to get her 6 month pictures and she did good for about 10 pictures then she started crying. But we got some cute ones. Hope you enjoy. Oh I asked the doctor when her eyes will be the color that they are going to be and she said that they are what they are going to be. So she has blue eyes with brown in the middle. So I guess Hazel. So everyone that voted brown eyes was wrong.

Dilemma

So last month we decided to get a new vacuum, because the one we bought when we got married just wasn't working anymore. So We bought this lovely Eureka. We'll Nathan used it once and it broke. Now we thought about just going and getting it fixed but then by the time we payed for them to fix it we might as well buy a new one. The question is which one do we buy. I am very reluctant to buy a new vacuum b/c we just bought a new one. So if you have any suggestions on a good vacuum I would love to hear about them. I was looking at this Bissel upright and this hoover.

Petersen Reunion 2010

So a week before we are supposed to go to Florida for our Reunion, my mom fell down the stairs and ripped her acl and some other ligaments in her knee. So my mom was hauled around in a wheelchair for the trip but it wasn't to bad since we know how to handle wheelchairs. We were in Florida for 7 days and had a great time being with family and going to all the parks in Disney world. It was cold most of the time except the first and last days we were there. Nathan and Aleisha had never been to Disney world so it was fun to take them and to see Garrett our new cousin for the first time.

Christmas and Other stuff

So for Christmas we went up to Billings to see Nathan's Family. It was the first time in a long time Nate's whole family was together for Christmas. It was nice to get to visit with them and to let them see Lilly for the first time. We are so grateful that we made it there safely. We left wednesday afternoon and we were going to try to go halfway but the further we traveled out of Denver the worse the snow got. We ended up staying in Cheyenne WY, which is only a few hours away but the roads were closed. So we were grateful we made it that far. We woke up the next day and the roads were a little icy but we made it there. Lilly did pretty good with it being her first long road trip. She slept the whole time except for when it was time to eat. We wish we lived closer so we could see them more often. For some reason NAthan was in charge of taking pictures and so we don't have very many, oh well, I'll do it next year. We had lots of fun. We are so grateful for the birth of the Savior and for the time we got to think about him. What a wonderful Holiday.

We had a wonderful weekend this week. Lilly's blessing was Nov. 1 so some of Nate's family came down from Montana. His parents, sister inlaw, and two nephews came. It was so much fun having our firsts guests in our home. It was also Halloween! Nathan's brother had a baby boy exactly one month before us. So we decided to dress the two up, Kade wore my extra giraffe costume and Lilly wore hers. They were so cute. We are so grateful for family and that they were able to come. The blessing went great and Lilly looked like a little princess.

So everything is going good in our Family. Nathan started a new job last week. He is still working for the same company but instead of estimating he will be a project Engineer out on site. The new opportunity is good and bad. The good part is Nathan gets some new experience and the job he is working on is a really neat building. The bad is that he has to drive 1.5 hours to get to work everyday b/c it is in Boulder. He has to be at the site by 6:30 am, so he leaves at 5 am and doesn't get home til 7 pm, he goes to sleep at 8:30 pm. So needless to say we don't get to see Nate as much as we used to. BUt the job lasts until next summer, then he'll get to choose whether he wants to keep doing Project Engineering or Estimating. We'll see. Lilly is doing wonderful, she is a great blessing in our lives and are grateful for the opportunity we have in being her parents. She wakes up every 3-4 hours to eat so hopefully over the next little while that will change. Over the summer my project was making her blessing dress. It was fun/frustrating/ I'm really glad I am done with it.

Nathan and I decided to go have some fun down in Colorado Springs yesterday. We went to the Olympic Training Center, where they house future olympians. They said they had to be in the top 10% of their sport in order to train and live there. Then we went to Manitou Springs and had lunch. Then we went to Garden of the Gods, which is really pretty and good for hiking except it was raining. Then we went to the Air Force Academy and walked around the visitor center. So we saw a lot in one day but had lots of fun exploring.

So this is my Hibscus tree. I love this tree and I got it at Walmart for like 20 bucks. But anyways it sprouts these pretty flowers all year long. My work had one and it was always so pretty so I got one too. I will eventually post some pics of our house, I just keep thinking I want to do that when I have more decorating done but that will probably be never when I am finished. Third Trimester and Update

So Last night we went out to Texas Roadhouse for my sister Brooke's Bday and they had free face painting. I've never actually done it before so it was fun. All of us girls did it but by the time I got home from looking at new stoves with my mom, my sisters had already washed it off. So you just get a picture of me. It was fun though.

So the other picture is of me at 28 wks. I feel huge but I do know that there are people that are bigger than me. Nathan and I started taking a birthing class together that is 1 night for three wks. When I went there and saw that everybody else was big too it made me feel better. But everything is going good. I've decided that my favorite trimester so far has been the second, mostly because I actually had some energy. Now I am just tired all the time. I'm just excited to have her here soon. We saw a picture of her face in the last ultrasound, and now it's starting to sink in that there really is a little person in there. Very exciting!! This is probably the only picture you'll see me pregnant but I didn't have any other pictures to share.

So we haven't moved into the house yet, because we are waiting for 2 bathrooms to be painted, carpet to be installed, Washer and dryer to be delivered, and stove to be delivered. So hopefully next weekend we will be moving in. We'll see, Nathan is already starting on lots of projects around the house. It took him all day on Saturday to mow down all the weeds. But it looks great now. We are very excited to have our own place soon. We will post some pictures as soon as we get settled.

Hair Bows and 4th of July

So, I don't have any pictures from the fourth because Nate and I didn't take any pictures. We even brought our camera along to Billings, Mt and we both forgot. But we had lots of fun hanging out with Nate's family. I was very grateful that we were able to make it up because we aren't sure when we'll be back. Nathan misses his family so he was glad to be with them although we both wish it could have been longer. I got to see my first drive in movie though and that was alot of fun. I did almost all of Nathan's sister's hair, that was fun too. I like being able to spend time with them doing girly things like hair. We also enjoyed lots of yummy food, which is something I always looked forward to when going to Montana. I got lots and lots of clothes for the baby which is a lot of help.

The new thing right now is to make bows for your hair. I made the bows on the right with Nate's sisters and the bows on the left I made just this week at enrichment. They were both alot of fun to make but I must say the ones I made at enrichment were a lot easier and I didn't get burnt as many times with the hot glue gun. But they're fun to make and even though Lilly won't have much hair when shes born at least I got a head start on bows for her.

Children's Hospital

So, there was a ranking that went on about what Children's hospital is the best in the nation. Not to brag or anything but Denver just happened to be #1 Children's hospital in the country. I was mostly excited because this is where my little brother received all of his treatment throughout his entire life, and the reason why my parent's never moved from Denver. I'm grateful that my brother was able to receive the best care possible during his life. Sorry, but I was just really excited to see that!! It's actually the building right next to where I go for my Diabetes treatment, so I see it all the time.

Toeriffic news!! Not really

So for the past 2 months I have had a sore toe. Don't know why or how it happened. So when it really started hurting about 2 wks ago I called my Diabetic Doc and she looked at it and tested me for gout. Which is sometimes what diabetics can get, but I didn't have that. She started having me soak it in Epsom salt 3 times a day. Then five days latter my OB doc saw it and put me on an Antibiotic just in case it was infected. It did have a little infection but not very much. So then, I went and saw a podiatrist (who I am kind of angry at) and she said well let's see what the antibiotic does and we'll look at it in a few days. So it got a little better but not great. So last Saturday I woke up with pain in my kidneys and I'm thinking great I have a kidney infection too. So by Sat. Night my parents told me I needed to go see a doc b/c it was looking really bad and it hurt too. BUt Nathan and I were going to go out with some friends to movie and dinner and I would much rather do that. BUt much to my dismay I ended up in Urgent care at 7:30pm. The doctor says you have an ingrown toenail. UH WHAT?? Its down by my cuticle not the side of my toe. So needless to say they numbed my toe and removed that part of the nail below my cuticle. It really hurt and the whole time I was thinking "Oh my gosh, this really hurts and in 3 months I'm going to be having a baby, what did I get myself into!" But Nathan was great and held my hand the whole time. We got home about 9:30pm. Since I've been pregnant I can't really look at blood or I feel nauseated and I want to faint. So Nathan helped clean my wound for the first 2 days. Tuesday is the first day I've been able to kind of walk on it and I had to go to work. By the end of the day my foot really hurt. BUt it's looking better. And the doctor found no infection at all in my toe it was just so sore from the nail. Thank goodness. And I have no infection my kidneys!!

So my family and I went on a family trip last week. Grant, Aleisha and Alaina flew in from New York and we loaded up in my parent's motorhome and went to South Dakota to see Mt. Rushmore.

We left Wednesday night and made it to Shelby, Nebraska where we spent the night in a Cabela's Parking lot. The next morning my brother, Dad, and husband had fun walking around Cabela's. Then we headed to Chimney Rock. After Chimney Rock we went to Chadron, Nebraska where we went on paddle boats and paddled around a cute little lake. After that we headed to our campsite in South Dakota. My uncle Jim and Aunt Lorraine also joined us up in South Dakota.

Friday morning we got up and headed to Mt. Rushmore. We took a very windy but pretty road to get there. On the way I got carsick and threw up all over Nathan and my uncle and Aunt's car. I felt Really BAD!!! That was the first time I've puked since I've been pregnant. Then we made it to Mt. Rushmore and I got some yummy Ice cream to fill my empty stomach. After lots of pictures we headed back to our campsite and had a campfire. That was fun.

Saturday was a very rainy day. We ended up going to Rapid city and seeing bear country. That was actually a lot of fun b/c all the bears were out b/c it wasn't too hot outside. Then we went to the Purple pie shop (where the building is actually pink and purple) and got some yummy pie.

Sunday we went to the Hot Springs, South Dakota Branch and went to their Church mtg. We made up half the branch. After that we went to my other uncle's house in Wyoming and had Sunday dinner with them. Then we headed home. All in all it was a fun trip with a lot of fun memories.

Today we went in for our Anatomical ultrasound and yes we are having a girl. Yeah, we are so excited and now I can start buying baby clothes. The doctor said everything looks great so thats good. The tech had a little trouble looking to see what it was b/c the baby was kicking her legs so much and crossing them, but we eventually did see.

My new Diet

So the past couple weeks I've been having problems with my bloood sugar numbers in the morning. So last week I went into my doctor's and they informed me that I have become Insulin resistant in the morning, great!! So now I have to eat very little carbs, like a glass of milk and protein. I like eggs but I'm going to have to get more creative. If you know me you'd know that I love my breakfast foods like Lucky charms, Waffles, french toast. Oh well, one of the many sacrifices I'll be making for my child. At least I have doctor's that can tell me whats wrong with me.

Nathan and I went away for a couple of days to one of our favorite places, Estes Park, CO. We stayed in a nice suite in a lodge. Which is unusual for us because we usually stay at the YMCA when we go up there. But it was fun. We went fishing (we got a few bites, and Nathan got a fish but it got away) then we went to the Rocky mt. national park. We also did a lot of relaxing. It was nice to get away but we wish it was longer, went by way to fast!

Ok so here's our Big secret!

It's taken me awhile to start telling people. But we are 13 wks pregnant! We are due October 15. We are very excited!! Because I am a diabetic, I am a high risk pregnancy. So theres a lot of stuff that goes into that. Some of you may be interested in knowing about that and if your not oh well. So Nathan and I wanted to have a baby for quite some time now, but since we were in school and we couldn't afford good maternity insurance we had to wait a year in order for Nathan to get insurance through work. Then when we got that taken care of we had to go see my diabetic doctor and have her start montoring me to make sure I was healthy enough to start having kids. After we got the clear from her than we started trying in August. After I got pregnant, in my 1st trimester I have been to 6 dr. apts. Even though I am used to seeing doctors all the time, I'm kind of sick of going to doctor visits already and I know I have a way to go. BUt anyways, I am able to go to a regular OB doc that is actually friends with my diabetic doc, because I am a well controlled diabetic. But I had to go meet with a highrisk ob doc to take a first trimester screening to screen for abnormalities and things like that. The pictures from that are on here. We got to see so many things and it's only 13 wks old. So anyways, even though I am having to do a lot and worry a lot and make sure my Blood sugar levels are where they need to be, I am very grateful to be able to have kids. Back when I was first diagnosed with diabetes a lot of women with diabetes weren't having kids. They usually induce diabetics 36-37 wks, so really I'll be having it in september. But so far everything is going good, and I'm feeling much better now that I am past the first 12 wks. I was 11 when I was diagnosed with diabetes, and my doc says that if I had diabetes for twenty years (like if I had gotten it when I was 3) because of the stress and everything it does to our bodies than they would have recommended that I adopt but since I have til I'm 31, I just have to try and have as many as my body can have. So I'm very excitied that everything is going good and everything looks normal.

So this is my crazy eight year old sister Brooke in the top of the tree in the front yard. She decided to climb to the very top and being a responsible chaperone that I am I took a picture instead of yelling at her to get out. BUt wow, I think it would have hurt climbing a pine tree. It may not look that tall in the picture but it really is.

So I had a few interesting people that I cut their hair today at the Salon. One in particular that I thought was funny, maybe you'll just think it's stupid but hey I need something to blog about. So this guy came in with blonde hair almost down to his butt and a big bushy beard. He looked a lot like my picture. His name was Woody. He wanted me to cut off only about 1.2 inch of his hair and trim his beard. So I took him back to the shampoo bowl, and his hair was so strong with cigarette smell that I wanted to vomit. When you are washing someones hair that is dirty it is one of the most disgusting things, the water and everything makes it ten times worse. It still smelt bad after I had washed it twice. Most guys who have long hair, its actually really gross because they don't take care of it like women do so its usually brittle and rough. So anyways, I cut his hair and then he wanted me to take my trimmers and trim his beard with a #1 guard. That was really gross too. He said he only trimmed once a year. So I was doing that and I go ok I need you to lift your nose up so I can trim your mustache better (he was kind of an air head), so he did the pig kind of nose and all the hair that I was trim off all went up his nose. I really didn't start laughing until I got home and was thinking about it because he just acted like such a blonde. It was pretty funny/ disgusting experience. So anyways, I think I would rather change a dirty diaper than cut his hair again. I had more redneck people come in but thats a way longer story. I also asked him how long hes had long hair and he said since high school, he wanted to be like an oakridge boy. But he used to paint and would get paint in it and then he used to lay concrete and would get that in it. So nothing like having terpentine in your hair.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!! I hope everyone had a wonderful night. Sorry, I haven't posted anything in awhile, mostly because I had nothing to post. So for our valentines day we got up and went to the temple, then we went to 3 different grocerie stores trying to find ingredients for Nathan's appetizer, then we came home. We decided to stay home this year and make our own fancy dinner. My parents and sisters are in Cancun, so we decided to take advantage of them being away.

We had candles and Faux ( as it says on the package) rose petals! It was fun and then we watched a movie. For our gifts, I was cutting a guy's hair one day when he was telling me about his wife's company. She makes organic fresh spices. Those of you who know Nathan, knows he likes making food with fun ingredients. So I decided to get him some of these special spices. They were Saffron, Thyme, Cumin, Rosemary, Basil, Tarragon. So we'll see how he does. Nathan got me a dozen pink roses, my favorite and some Cozy crocs. I've been telling him for months I really wanted some because they look so comfortable. So anyways that was our Weekend!

Last night we went to the National Western Stock show. We saw all the top cowboys riding the bulls and broncs. We bought homemade Kettle corn, yummy! Our seats we're in the second row so we had really good seats.

This weekend we went on a date to place called Southlands. Its basically an outdoor mall but they made it kind of like a little town in and of itself. It has an ice skating rink right in the middle and a movie theatre and a lot of cute stores. On the walkways there was music playing. We were going to go skating but it was to cold so we looked in stores instead. Nathan's company helped build alot of Southlands.

Yesterday on the 6th of December was Nathan's birthday. I just wanted to share how much I love him and how thankful I am for him.

1. I am grateful for the worthy priesthood holder that he is and that he was able to take me to the temple and that he makes me try to be a better person everyday.
2. I am grateful for the provider that he is for our family and how he always tries to do his very best in everything that he does including church, family and work.
3. I am grateful for the friend that he is and always has been to me. He is my best friend now and forever.
4. I am grateful for the father that he will one day be and how excited he is for that day whenever it will be.
5. I am grateful that he wants to take care of me with all of my wonderful medical issues.
6. I am grateful for his family that made him into the person he is.
7. I am grateful that he knows how to be responsible for our finances because otherwise if it were up to me we would be broke.
8. I am grateful that he cooks when I don't want to and he puts up with me when I am being emotional. He also takes me to chick flicks every once in awhile.
9. I am grateful that Nathan supports me in everything that I want to do.
10. I am just so lucky for the husband that I married and for the friends that set us up, Thank you courtney and Justin!!

I could go on and on about how wonderful Nathan is but I just wanted to say what I am most grateful for.

For Nate's bday I decorated the house, like I always do. Then Saturday night we went to Anthony's Pizza and got some pizza than we went to a movie. Nathan got a basket of fun stuff from me and some camping boots. From his parents he got a new coat and from my parents he got some coveralls. He had a very good Bday!! We are going out to a steakhouse on Monday for Nate called the Saltgrass.

Yes, Nathan and I went and saw the movie! I wasn't going to go until my Brother and sister in law came for xmas (I'll go again with you guys), but I just couldn't wait! I loved the movie, yes it wasn't as good as the book, but what movie is?? With a book you can add so much more detail. I am a huge fan of the books and I read all four in like a week, but the movie had a good way of bringing it to life. So I recommend the movie, just remember it will not be exactly like the book. I told Nathan he'll have to buy the movie for me when it comes out, and the ending totally shows that there will be another movie, yeah!

Nathan, I and my family were able to go to New York this past week for 5 days! It was so much fun and a much needed vacation. We were able to stay with my brother and his family on Staten Island (he is attending NYU Dental school). It was fun to have a nice place to stay ( Thanks again Grant and Aleisha!). We would ride on the ferry everyday and we became regulars riding the New York Subway. After a couple of days it wasn't so confusing. I think the hardest thing was figuring out which way was North or East, you can't tell b/c the buildings are so high. We did lots of fun stuff. Instead of writing about it I'll just show the pictures. Sorry some the pictures are dark, it was overcast the whole time we were there.

Our Ward had fall festival this past weekend. I dressed up in a poodle skirt and did my hair like Hairspray, Nathan was a skeleton, and I did his makeup. I was pretty proud of the job I did. One of the pictures my dad and my sister were having a cupcake eating contest. We had a lot of fun and even had Trunk or treat!

I would just like to recommend a cute movie that nathan and I saw a few days ago. It is called Nim's Island. I though it was funny (maybe it's just my kind of funny). Nathan thought it was kind of dumb. Yes, I will have to admit that sometimes it was a little corny, but hey it's a kids movie. So if you're looking for something fun to watch I recommend it. I think jodie foster is my favorite character in the movie. Enjoy!

Two Year Anniversary

For our two year anniversary we decided to go to a fancy restaurant called the Melting pot. There were four courses to the meal. All of the courses were all fondue style (except for the salad). So we first started with a cheese fondue that we dipped bread and veggies in. Then we had a salad. After the salad we had five different meats: Pork, Filet Mignon, Shrimp, Salmon and Chicken. With the meats we cooked them in broth for about 2 mins. We also had potatoes and veggies that we're cooked in the broth. Then for our final course we had a chocolate fondue with cheesecake, bananas, strawberrys, brownies, cake, and rice krispie treats to dunk. We both agreed that the dessert was our favorite course. We had a lot of fun and I am so grateful to have such a wonderful husband and that we have been married for 2 wonderful years! ( The pictures are a little dark b/c the restaurant was dark, sorry)

The beginning of August my dad asked if Nathan might be able to paint the stairs and doors and that at my dad's building. So we said sure we could use the extra money. The only thing is we would finish something that would take us all day and then my dad would somehow find more things for us to paint. This painting took our whole labor day weekend and then 4 more weekends after that. I am so excited to have my husband back so we can have an actual weekend together. Nathan spent many times there and staying til 8:00 at night. I'm just to glad to be done. I helped Nathan a lot as well but I just couldn't take it sometimes, so I would leave or go find something else to do. I'll post some pictures of all the work we did.

So today I came home from work and felt awful, my whole body was achy, I had a killer headache and I had a temperature of 100. I know its not a lot but I can't even remember the last time I had a fever. So after a whole afternoon of watching the show Felicity and drinking tons of water, I actually feel a lot better. I don't know if its just the medicine I took or what but I feel way better. I guess theres some bug going around.

Rockies Game

Last night Nathan and I went downtown and saw the Colorado Rockies play the San Diego Padres. Nathan was given the tickets from his co-worker and they were good seats by the first base line. It was a lot of fun. We even took the lightrail, so we wouldn't have to drive downtown and try and park. Even though it was a lot of fun the Rockies lost 11-5. We did see a grand slam though. I was surprised to see that they even sold healthy food at the ball game. I had a turkey wrap but Nathan had a good ol' hot dog!

What we're doing now

Nathan and I met in Rexburg, Idaho while attending BYU-Idaho. I met him through some friends who wanted to set us up for quite awhile, but I was stubborn and didn't want to be set up. So about 4 months went by and I finally agreed to meet him after I had seen him in person and thought he was cute! We didn't hit it off exactly at first because Nathan was sick on our first date but something told me to stay interested and I did. After about 2 1/2 months of dating we decided to get married. We were married October 20, 2006 in the Salt Lake City temple. We have almost been married 2 years. After we got married I went to Cosmetology school at Evans Hairstyling College in Rexburg. Nathan graduated in April with his Construction Mang. degree. Last Christmas Nathan had a job interview in Denver and we accepted a job here in Parker, Co. Nathan is an Estimator for Saunders Construction and even has his own office (he was pretty excited about that). We currently live with my parents saving money and looking for a house (its a good time to buy!). We hope to start a family soon this year. I work at a day spa doing hair, nails and facials.
